Youth systems are clubs are cyclical, typically with the longest recurring curve being the one without any return for the investment.
You have to assume that one of the benefits seen in bringing in Moyes is that after two consecutive managers who completely disregarded the value of youth and pace we might now have someone in charge prepared to throw on a couple of kids now and again.
At some point we'll luck out with one or two youth players making it through. We'll sell them for somewhere between £5m and £15m and two seasons later they'll be winning the league or being sold on for £45m.
'tis the way of things. Stop your knicker wetting.

Stems back further than the 2 cunts in charge. The shoe thing needed reforming 15 years ago, we rested on our laurels.
Westley has given it some life, hopefully it bears some fruit, but it still needs more.

Until lampard, Rio, cole, carrick etc came along we went years without a decent kid establishing himself in the first team.
This is nothing new and it will probably be the case that 2 will come through at once.
As for Quina, everytime I have seen him play he has not impressed. Nathan Holland looks a much better prospect.

there was a time when this club of ours was truly known as THE academy with so many superb kids brought through, some even playing for the national team. like everything else shit that these 2 useless dildoes and baroness bitch have done, they have literally destroyed our WHU future in so many ways.
I for one hate them with a passion.

There’s definitely a lack of care for the youth players, which is why we rarely produce first team players. Yes we’ve just unearthed Declan Rice, but since the 90s golden generation, we should have continued to really utilise the youth setup, because at the very least it’s a money spinner.
Southampton over recent years have been the beneficiaries of their academy and clubs who don’t utilise theirs lose out.

It will be great if it is dead. We haven't seen the benefits for many years. Other clubs have though.

I think the young players will get a chance under Moyes, another plus point about him.

Why is anyone interested in an academy that’s basically there to supply the big clubs before we’be even got near seeing the best of them.
If it were there to produce the next Moore or Brooking then great but that will never happen due to our owners not offering great ambition to compete at the top and agents knowing that and getting them somewhere they fulfil their potential.
They’ve truly fucked us with this move as it was bad enough at UP knowing they would move on to bigger and better things.

The danger of a club which bounces around, as we do, is that you're going to lose your best talent to those who pay more and look like they present a future. So much depends on agents, parents etc. Simply put, how many bright, young things actually make it after moving to the big teams and how many throw away that potential that sees them ply their trade in the lower leagues or quitting before they ever had the chance to live up to the hype?

Calm yer tits Bowboy..
Quina has a cunt of an Agent, who stopped the player going on loan, unless significant fees were paid. Oxford has yet to convince any professional manager that he is worth starting.

Was reading something that was saying Quina (all of 17?) wasn't going to get in our RELEGATION HAUNTED team this season so we would sell him. TO LIVERPOOL !
Cos he would go straight into THEIR team wouldn't he? Load of utter bollocks If he is good enough he will play soon enough and might even feature in the Arsenal cup squad.
